Coca-Cola truck Leicester visit criticised over tooth decay issues
The famous Coca-Cola truck will be in Leicester today, stopping at Highcross shopping centre as part of a Christmas tour around the country.
Free samples of different Coca-Cola products will be handed out to shoppers.
The truck's visit has attracted criticism given the sugar content of its products and the issue of poor dental health among young children in the region.
Leicester East MP Keith Vaz has spoken out against the company's decision to visit Leicester.
But Coca-Cola insist they will not be giving free samples out to children under the age of twelve without parental consent.
Figures from the National Children's Bureau earlier this year suggested that there were high levels of tooth decay in Leicester.
A five year old in the city was found to be nearly three times as likely to have tooth decay as one in Derbyshire.
Leicester was the worst place in the country for tooth decay, with 51% of children suffering with active tooth decay.
