Leicester businessman made honorary Consul for Uganda
A businessman from Leicester has been named as Honorary Consul General of Uganda.
Jaffer Kapasi came to the UK from Uganda in 1972. He now runs his own accountancy firm in Leicester, and was awarded an OBE by The Queen for his services to business in Leicestershire.
Many Asian families currently living in Leicester can trace their roots back to Uganda. The country has a population of approximately 37 million people, making it the third largest consumer market in East Africa.
His main duties will be to:
build economic, social, cultural and educational bridges
encourage bilateral trade, investment and exports for mutual benefit
