23 Roman skeletons found in dig next to pharmacy

They were unearthed as part of an excavation in Newland Credit: Lincoln Council

The remains of 23 Roman skeletons have been discovered in an archaeological find considered to be the most significant in the city for a number of years.

They were unearthed as part of an excavation in Newland at a site next to Lincolnshire Co-op’s pharmacy.

The Council's Planning Department requested the excavation took place as a condition of granting planning permission for new apartments.
