Sixty six Labour MPs voted with the Government last night to bomb terrorist targets in Syria - among them many from the East Midlands, including Gloria De Piero, the MP for Ashfield. In a tweet last night she appeared to be swayed by the closing speech of Hilary Benn, the Shadow Foreign Secretary.

Leicester East MP Keith Vaz was another who voted in favour of air strikes as was Dame Margaret Beckett. During a powerful speech to the House, the MP for Derby South, said Britain should respond to France's request for help.

But veteran Conservative MP Ken Clarke decided to abstain. And Kettering MP Philip Hollobone went further, voting against the motion - only one of seven Tories to defy the Prime Minister.

Someone who didn't vote was Natascha Engel, the MP for North East Derbyshire. She is Deputy Speaker and does not take part in voting in the House.
