Tom Watson opposes Labour leader over Syria airstrikes
West Bromwich East MP and Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson has revealed he doesn't back Jeremy Corbyn's view on air strikes in Syria.
Mr Watson is one of the highest profile Labour members to oppose his leader's position.
More than half of Mr Corbyn's top team now against him on the Syria issue.
The West Bromwich East MP became the latest leading figure to speak out in support of bombing so-called Islamic State n its Syrian heartland - putting him directly at odds with the party leader.
He backed shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn - who was reportedly briefed by intelligence chiefs on the threat from IS - who said there was a "compelling" case for extending RAF airstrikes, currently restricted to Iraq, into Syria.
But Mr Watson made clear he had no intention of resigning over the issue, pointing out that he also had been directly elected by party members.
