FA issue new head injury guidelines after Jeff Astle campaign
The FA have issued new guidelines on the treatment of football-related head injuries.
It follows a high profile campaign by the family of former West Bromwich Albion and Notts County forward Jeff Astle.
Today the FA ruled that footballers who sustain a suspected concussion, either during training or in a game, are to be immediately be removed from the pitch and not allowed to return until the appropriate treatment has been administered.
The new guidelines have been drawn up after consultation from a panel of leading professionals in head injury and concussion.
