Missing Kayleigh Haywood: What we know so far

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Kayleigh Haywood believe she may have been in the Sence Valley Forest Park area on Saturday afternoon.

Officers have been working to piece together the 15-year-old's last movements and it is now believed she was in the area, near to the footpath which leads to the park, off Ravenstone Road.

A mobile phone, which is believed to belong to Kayleigh, has also been found by a member of the public in the area.

Kayleigh, from Measham, was last seen at 6pm on Friday 13 November when she was dropped off outside Ibstock Community College, in Central Avenue.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who was in this area between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning, as they could have information which will help the investigation.

What do we know so far?

  • Kayleigh was last seen outside Ibstock Community College after being dropped off at 6pm on Friday evening.

  • Police have traced her movements and believe she made her way to the Sence Valley Forest Park on Saturday afternoon.

  • Officers working to piece together the 15-year-old's movements think she was in the area near to the footpath which leads to the park, off Ravenstone Road.

  • They discovered her mobile phone close-by, suggesting she has no way of contacting others.

  • Two men, aged 27 and 28 have been arrested in connection with her disappearance and are still in police custody.

Detective Chief Superintendent David Sandall said:

“Our concern for Kayleigh is growing. She does not have her phone with her and has no way of contacting us, which adds to our worries about her safety.

“We have been trying to piece together her last movements and, we believe she may have been in the Sence Valley Forest Park area on Saturday afternoon.

“I would urge you to get in contact with us if you were in the area between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning. This area is used by a lot of local people, particularly dog walkers, and it is these people I need to hear from.

“Did you see Kayleigh? Did you see anything out of the ordinary? Did you see anyone behaving suspiciously or any vehicles in the area?”

Since her disappearance was reported to police detectives have trawled CCTV, carried out house to house enquiries and spoken to her school, and friends, along with residents in the area she was last seen.
