The officer in charge of the original police inquiry into the disappearance of Nicola Payne was Malcolm Ross.

He spoke exclusively to our correspondent Keith Wilkinson who has covered this case for us since Nicola first went missing in 1991.

He's been retired for 16 years, but says he has never forgotten this case - one of more than 70 murders he investigated.

The 18-year-old disappeared from Coventry on 14 December 1991. Since then her whereabouts remain a complete mystery.

Mr Ross says he hopes one day Nicola's body can be found so she can receive a proper burial.

Two men were cleared today of murder charges in the Nicola Payne case.
