Nine-year-old does 90 mile walk to highlight plight of child refugees
A nine year old boy from Oakham is looking to raise awareness about the suffering of refugees who are forced to leave their homes - by walking 90 miles to London.
Joel Condron was so moved at footage on television about children in other countries having to flee their homes on foot, that he decided to do something about it.
They set off without money or food but intending to rely on the kindness of strangers to help them get by.
Joel and his dad John are planning to walk ten to eleven miles a day - and have already reached the half way point of Milton Keynes.
They hope that their mission will highlight how people treat strangers in need who come to their area - and show the intense challenges refugees face to survive.
