Dozens injured as Porsche ploughs into crowd at car show

A supercar driven by an East Midlands millionaire at a motor show lost control and veered into the crowd, injuring 26 people and leaving five fighting for their lives in hospital.

Businessman Paul Bailey was driving the Porsche 918 Spyder when it clipped the grass, spun out of control and ploughed into spectators at the event in Malta, the Times of Malta reported.

Five of the injured are in a critical condition, with a six-year-old girl said to be among the most seriously injured.

Nine people - including the driver -were treated for fractures or cuts at a local hospital.

Witnesses said the car was driving at high speed along an unused airport taxiway in the Hal Farrug district when the accident occurred.
