Birmingham New Street redevelopment: In numbers

  • There is now five times more space at concourse level than before - and it's five times bigger than at London Euston, and equivalent to 13 Wimbledon Centre Courts

  • 5,000 tonnes of concrete was removed from the old NCP car park, to make way for the first concourse which opened in 2013

  • 10,000 lorry journeys were saved from the roads by using trains to transport waste material

  • 200,000 square feet of retail space makes up Grand Central

  • 250,000 square feet of space in John Lewis
