A Birmingham family are still suffering the after-effects of a gastric bug three months after returning from a holiday in Egypt.

The Bulmans fell ill whilst on holiday at the Sharm Plaza resort in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

Drainage engineer Ian, his shop assistant wife Jennifer and their 17-year-old daughter Stacie suffered diarrhoea, stomach cramps and nausea during their two week holiday.

Now the family, from Shard End, are getting help from a team of lawyers over their health problems, which are still affecting Ian three months after their June getaway.

Law firm Irwin Mitchell said it was the third successive year it had dealt with similar problems affecting Sharm Plaza guests.

Ian was treated during his holiday, booked through tour operator Red Sea Holidays Ltd.

But the problems continued after he returned to Britain, forcing him to consult his GP about managing his illness.

The family said there were ants in the bed and around the room where Stacie was staying and claim they were served undercooked meat and that food from the buffet was often lukewarm and left uncovered.

Red Sea Holidays said it could not comment as the complaints were now a legal matter.
