Birmingham's restaurants now have most Michelin Stars outside London
Birmingham has its fifth Michelin star restaurant after Carters of Moseley became the latest to secure the prestigious accolade.
The news was expected to be unveiled tomorrow but the Michelin Guide announced the star on Twitter.
It also confirmed the city's existing four stars had all been retained, making Birmingham the most star-laden city outside London. The restaurants to receive the accolade in the city so far are:
Purnell's (Birmingham City Centre)
Simpsons (Edgbaston)
Turners (Harborne)
Adam's (Birmingham City Centre)
Holly Jackson, who co-founded Carters with partner Brad Carter in 2010, said staff and owners were overjoyed at the announcement.
The Michelin star victory comes after Carters was voted restaurant of the year by its diners in 2014.
The independent eatery in St Mary's Row, Wake Green Road, beat competition from other restaurants across the Midlands to the title in the 2014 Good Food Guide awards.
