Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled its latest model - the 4x4 F-Pace - at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

It's the latest of 50 new models, or variations of existing models, which the firm is bringing out over the next five years.

  • The F-Pace is virtually all aluminium and will be built at the firm's plant in Solihull.

  • Some aluminium panels will be made at the Castle Bromwich factory in Birmingham.

  • The engines are built at the company's Wolverhampton factory.

This is the third new car the company has launched recently - alongside the XE and the XF and it's triggered £13 billion of contracts with suppliers. Supplier contracts just for the F-Pace are around £5 billion.

Business correspondent, Mark Gough, says the company needs to sell more Jaguars. Last year the company sold more than 462,000 cars - only 81,000 were Jaguars, the rest were Land Rover models such as Range Rover and the Evoque.

The F-Pace is an attempt to woo customers who want both a saloon and a 4x4. They hope to win over BMW and Porsche 4x4 drivers. This is an important car - and with the XF and XE - designed to propel Jaguar into the same league in terms of sales as Land Rover models.

It goes into full production later this year and on sale early next year.

At the Motor Show, the car was involved in a loop-the-loop stunt.
