Policeman injured in assault in Buxton

A policeman needed hospital treatment after being attacked in Buxton yesterday evening.

Officers were called to reports of a man acting suspiciously in the Market Place area at around 18:05.

When they were arrived they were confronted by a man holding a knife, who subsequently assaulted the officer.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon and remains in police custody.
