Crowds descend on Sherwood Forest for 31st annual Robin Hood Festival

The 31st annual Robin Hood Festival got underway in Nottingham today.

Around 35,000 people are expected to attend the weeklong festival held in celebration of the UK's most famous outlaw.

Medieval activities are planned throughout the week.

This year's festival features a guest appearance from actor Phil Rose, who is best known for playing Friar Tuck in the hit TV show "Robin Hood of Sherwood."
