Hundreds expected as Snibston Discovery Museum opens for its final day
Snibston Discovery Museum in Coalville will close today, after campaigners lost a high court bid to prevent its closure.
Leicestershire County Council has decided to replace it with a smaller attraction to save £900,000 a year.
After today the exhibition hall will no longer be open to visitors, but the Century Theatre and Country Park will remain open and maintenance of the colliery headstock will continue.
Around 1,000 people are expected to visit the museum on its final day, and a protest is expected over its closure at 3.30pm.
