Gold medal winning swimmer revisits scene of greatest triumphs
Ellie Simmonds was reminded of her 2012 Olympics victories when she returned to the London Aquatics Centre today.
The 20-year-old from Walsall, who won double gold in the capital three summers ago, was back at the scene of her greatest triumphs for the first time for a competitive race as part of National Paralympic Day at the Olympic Park.
The four-time Paralympic champion finished second to Great Britain team-mate Charlotte Henshaw in the SB6 100 metres breaststroke today.
She lost her long-held S6 400m freestyle title at the IPC Swimming WorldChampionships in Glasgow two weeks ago, surrendering a crown she had won at two Paralympics and two previous World Championships.
Ellie Simmonds won four medals and broke two world records at London 2012 and is now concentrating on getting ready for Rio in 2016.
