Will £55 million development in Stoke-On-Trent be completed?

The Leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, David Conway, is expected to give an update on the Smithfield development that is currently under construction at a cost of £55 million.

Smithfield is the new commercial business quarter for Stoke-on-Trent, comprising of 1.2m sq ft of office, retail and hotel space. It has also been predicted that the development will create more than 4000 jobs.

In December, an investigation was launched into a potential issue with the construction of the Smithfield development which would be home to the Stoke-on-Trent City Council's new HQ.

Cllr Conway will be issuing a statement regarding Smithfield at 10am at the Civic Centre.
