One Direction fans are famous for their dedication and this 1 DUK number plate could be the next item on their wish-list.

The rare reg goes under the hammer at a Black County auction next month and is set to fetch a staggering £30,000. However, the plate certainly wasn't custom-made for a One Direction devotee.

It’s from the Swinging Sixties, a time when The Beatles were the nearest thing to a boy band.

The plate will be the star attraction at a sale staged at Fieldings Auctioneers’ Stourbridge headquarters on July 4.

No doubt the vendor was surprised by the excitement the reg plate generated among youngsters.

For many years, 1 DUK adorned a Ford Zephyr, a model that ceased production in 1972. Its owner is from Pattingham, South Staffordshire.

The reg is expected to go under the hammer for between £25,000 to £30,000. It’s hoped a fan of the four-piece – Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – is prepared to fork out for the unique item.

The price may seem high, but it’s very small amount compared to the going UK rate for personalised plates.

Interestingly, “I D” was bought for £352,000 a year before One Direction’s launch.

A record was set last year when the reg “25 O” went for a staggering GBP518,000. The plate now adorns a Ferrari once owned by Eric Clapton.

“F 1” was bought by a Bradford businessman in 2008 for £440,000.

But for those who really want to turn heads, there’s “VIP 1”, owned by billionaire Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich and costing £285,000
