The Villa fan whose wedding will clash with the Cup final
An Aston Villa fan faced a tricky situation after he realised his wedding day was going to clash with his team's FA Cup final clash with Arsenal.
Adam Anslow and his fiancee Claire booked the date of their wedding over a year ago.
Speaking to ITV's Good Morning Britain, Adam said: "When I found out the date was going to be on the (day of the) Cup final, I cheekily asked her whether we could change the date and I knew straight away that would be a 'no'.
"I did ask questions like 'Can we change the meal times?', 'Can I wear my Villa top?"
Luckily for Adam, Claire is a Villa fan too and the couple were able to reach a compromise.
"We did come to a compromise about the screen", said Adam.
"We've managed to sort the schedule out so everything finishes before half 5 and then we're able to watch the football then."
Claire said: "I know how much he loves football and the Villa. It would ruin his day if he didn't get to watch it so I've got to compromise somewhere."
With a compromise over a TV screen sorted, the couple from Walsall also had to make arrangements around some of their family and friends who are also Villa fans.
Adam added: "Some of them are attending the wedding and then the wedding should be finished about half 2. After that they're going to pop on the train at Solihull and go to Wembley. I'll hopefully see them back afterwards in a happy mood."
When asked about their fear of what impact Aston Villa losing would have on the atmosphere, Adam said: "We don't want to think about them losing. We're just thinking about a double celebration. Hopefully the champagne will be popping."
