Who is the living person you most admire?

The person I admire the most is my sister. She has been a dedicated primary school teacher for over 30 years and retired only in Easter of this year. She taught year 6 and had the challenge and privilege of preparing them for secondary school. Every day by 6am she would be in her classroom getting ready to help a select number of children who were falling behind or to push those who were capable of achieving more at a ‘breakfast club’ before school. This was an extra class, outside of the curriculum and her contracted hours, for which she was willing to invest her time in for the benefits of the children and their futures. The extra effort proved to be a success.

What is your favourite TV programme?

I am not an avid watcher of TV now-a-days. However, I have spent many an hour watching NCIS with an old friend who was suffering from cancer. I enjoyed seeing him have some happiness whilst he watched it and I in turn started to get attached to the characters and story lines. Although I do think my friend just liked watching it because he had a crush on Abby the Forensic Scientist!

What song would you take with you to a desert island?

Dance The Night Away by The Mavericks. I could listen to it over and over and it always makes me want to get up and boogie.

What new law do you want to introduce?

I want to bring in charges for using A&E if you are under the influence of drink or drugs. If you need medical aid you must be able to provide ID and a National Insurance Medical Number to prove you are entitled to it.

What is the most important issue facing your constituents?

Health, employment and education are the key issues for everyone n the country. In Boston, we have a vast number of non-English speaking people and it should not be the responsibility of the state or business to pay for translations.
