Who is the living person you most admire?

José “Pepe” Mujica - the current President of Uruguay. He spent 14 years in a military prison during the 1970s and ’80s. Even as President he still lives in his own humble house and travels to work in a 25 year old VW beetle. A very modest man and an inspiration to the whole of Latin America and beyond.

What is your favourite TV programme?

Great British Bake Off – I love food and cooking and also I appeared in each of the first four series.

What song would you take with you to a desert island?

“You’ve Got a Friend” sung by Carole King.

What new law do you want to introduce?

That as well as a micro chip under the current law, all dogs must have a sample of DNA taken so dog poop can be traced back to its owner.

What is the most important issue facing your constituents?

The economy and public service cuts – people are struggling financially and yet the public and voluntary sector to help them are being cut.
