Who is the living person you most admire?

When I was a youngster, it would have been John F Kennedy. Today there are many to admire, politicians and others, but none I would put on a pedestal. They are all fallible and human. If pushed I would choose Paddy Ashdown.

What is your favourite TV programme?

Best I have seen recently is Wolf Hall.

What song would you take with you to a desert island?

Horrible question, there are hundreds of songs I like. How about Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen?

What new law do you want to introduce?

Defence spending to be no less than 2% of GDP.

What is the most important issue facing your constituents?

Generally – it’s jobs and the economy. Specific to Loughborough – new housing developments, how much, what sort and where?
