Former Wolves midfielder Geoff Thomas has announced that disgraced former cyclist Lance Armstrong will join him as he rides the Tour de France this summer for charity.

Geoff Thomas cycled the Tour de France route ten years ago, just months after beating cancer. He was raising money for Leukaemia research, and said Armstrong was his inspiration as he, too, had beat the disease.

Armstrong won seven Tour de France titles after recovering from cancer but was later stripped of the titles after admitting to blood doping.

Geoff travelled to the United States to convince Armstrong to cycle the route with him again this summer. He says he's aware of the controversy it might cause, but has so far had a positive reaction.
