£1,000 to catch killer who shot a Peregrine Falcon
A wildlife charity is offering a reward of £1,000 for information that willhelp police catch the person who shot dead a peregrine falcon inDerbyshire.
The bird was found shot dead at the headquarters of Derbyshire Wildlife Trust in Belper. It was then taken to a vet and an x-Ray showed that a bullet was lodged in its shoulder.
Peregrine falcons are protected by legislation, which makes it an offence todeliberately kill or injure them.
Derbyshire police's specialist wildlife officers are now investigating theoffence in partnership with the trust and the RSPB, which is offering a £1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible.
The bird was found dead on January 17.
