Puppies found dumped in a box in freezing weather
Four little puppies and their mother have been found dumped in a box amid freezing temperatures this week.
The Staffordshire Bull Terriers were discovered at Erewash Canal in Eastwood on Tuesday, as temperatures plummeted to -6 degrees.
A passer-by noticed the box and reported it to Broxtowe Borough Council, whose Neighbourhood Wardens are now appealing for information about the dogs.
The puppies - who have been named Wellington, Willow, Maisie and Gracie - and their mother Rocky, are in good condition.
They are being cared for at Babbington Hall Rescue Kennels, and they will be put up for adoption and re-homed.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are one of the UK’s most popular dogs but they are being overbred. That means that large numbers of them end up in rehoming centres across the country.
