Six fire engines were called to a fire this morning which has completely destroyed the offices of a care company in Wednesfield.

Charter Care provides care services to around 200 elderly, disabled and seriously ill people across Wolverhampton and Walsall.

The fire at Linthouse Lane is now out but crews are still at the scene assessing the damage, ensuring no pockets of fire remain, and trying to find out what caused it.

Company Director Leo Hardy visited the scene in the early hours of this morning and says that all the paperwork kept at the office has been destroyed.

He is, however, reassuring clients that all their records can be accessed from other offices and all staff are already briefed for their work next week, so no services will be affected.

From Monday, all telephone calls will be diverted to a line in another office.

Fire crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
