People from across Birmingham have rallied round to help a foodbank after thieves stole its only transport.

The Central Foodbank's van was taken from the Ladywood car park on Friday night.

Two thieves were caught on CCTV hot-wiring the Renault Van, branded with foodbank logos, before driving it away.

Since then, staff have been inundated with calls from members of the public offering to help deliver the food parcels and a van hire company has also offered to provide a vehicle.

January is traditionally the busiest period of the year for the foodbank, run by charity Trussell Trust.

The vehicle was only bought two years ago, thanks to a £2,600 donation from a member of the public.

Matched funding was provided through a Ladywood Community First grant.
