Clare's Law safeguards 66 people in Nottinghamshire in six months
A new law which allows police to disclose details of their partner's abusive past has helped safeguard 66 people in Nottinghamshire in the past six months.
Clare's Law was rolled out nationally in March after a trial in 2013. It was named after 36-year-old Clare Wood, who was murdered by her estranged partner in 2009.
She had suffered months of abuse before she was strangled by George Appleton, who had a history of violence against women.
47 of those people protected were provided the information because they asked for it. 19 were advised on their partner's past under the 'right to know' basis, which is where the police receive information suggesting someone could be at risk.
Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping, supports the scheme.
To make a request for information, people should contact the police on 101 or visit their local police station.
