Workers complete construction of roof on iconic Birmingham shopping centre

Work on the new sky-lit glass roof for the Mailbox shopping centre in Birmingham has been completed ahead of the opening in Spring next year.

It was built to protect shoppers from the weather and is part of a redevelopment to re-vamp of the entire retail mall.

The refurbishment will also see a three-screen cinema added to the complex, as well as new store frontages.

Another addition will be a relaxation area named the 'Urban Room', which bosses say will 'transform the environment' inside the centre.
