Police warn parents after alleged abduction attempt of 16-year-old girl by 61-year-old man

Police have issued a warning to parents after the alleged abduction of a schoolgirl in Solihull this evening.

It's after an allegation was made a man tried to lure a 16-year-old girl into his car as she walked home.

Police have arrested 61-year-old man, who is being questioned by officers at an undisclosed location in the West Midlands.

The incident has prompted West Midlands Police to issue the following safety advice to parents and youngsters to stay safe while out alone on the street.

  • Never go off on your own with a stranger, take things from them or get in a car with them.

  • Make sure you tell your parents where you are.

  • If someone scares you, or makes you feel uncomfortable go somewhere safe, which could be your home, your school or a police station.

  • Remember to tell someone what has happened straight away.

  • Always dial 999 in an emergency.
