Mother: Coach crash 'most terrifying moment of my life' as she survives with broken neck
A mother from West Bromwich has described her coach crash horror, as she survived the overturning along with her son, on the M5 on Tuesday morning.
Sharlodane Beckles suffered a broken neck and a head wound needing 21 stitches after the crash on the M5 motorway near Stroud in Gloucestershire.
The 25-year-old was with her partner, Kristian Garman-Cooke, and her two-year-old son Oakley on the coach.
Amazingly, Kristian, who is 24, and Oakley escaped without injury after they were held dangling by their seat belts after the coach overturned.
Passers-by helped Sharlodane from the coach, and she was taken to hospital where she was treated for broken bone in her neck and a deep gash on her head.
She has joined the police in recognising the use of seat belts as being vital in saving lives, as none of the 53 passengers on board were killed.
Five passengers were hospitalised, but all were discharged on Tuesday night. The driver suffered a broken shoulder, back and rib injuries.
The coach from Stourbridge-based Prospect Coaches was taking children and adults from a children's centre in West Bromwich for a day trip to the seaside at Weston-super-Mare.
Police and the bus company are both investigating the crash.
