Midlands prisoner released after surname mistake

A prisoner has been mistakenly freed by a Midlands jail because he had the same surname as another inmate.

Anthony Douglas was allowed to walk out of HMP Hewell near Redditch last Wednesday.

Douglas, in his 20s and originally from Burton upon Trent was arrested on Thursday.

It is understood a senior member of staff has been suspended after they mistook him for another offender who had completed their sentence.
