School assembly rocked by chart-topping star Pixie Lott

Pop princess Pixie Lott wowed pupils at one Midland school when she dropped in for a mini-show in honour of its 40th anniversary.

Students at St Augustine's Catholic High School in Redditch invited the singer to help them celebrate the occasion.

She treated her young fans to chart-topping hit All About Tonight, as well as Cry Me Out, new single Lay Me Down, and a cover of Avicii's Wake Me Up.

Headmaster Tony Quinn gifted the star a special St Augustine’s pen as thanks for her performance.

The 23-year-old star also took the opportunity to chat to the students about the importance of heart scans, and her role as patron of charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

She has been involved with the cause since 2010, when her friend Adam Donnelly died suddenly, and told the children she was due to have a scan of her own soon.

The pupils also heard from Stevie Rennie, who lost her son Scott - a member of the GB rowing team - at age 25 to a condition which thickened his heart muscles.

She told them:

Caterers Aspens handed Pixie a cheque for £840 raised for CRY after her performance.
