Two casualties are reported after a small plane crashed - narrowly missing the M1 motorway in Nottinghamshire.

It came down around 13.30 this afternoon and crashed into a field close to Junction 26.

Craig Wing was travelling his family when he says he saw the plane getting into difficulties above the motorway.

He was travelling Northbound on the M1 - turned round at the next junction, pulled up, and ran through fields next to the motorway to try and help after alerting the emergency services.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are investigating the incident.
