Feeling stressed? Pop some bubble wrap. Or maybe pet a puppy. And how about a free cuppa?

Bubble wrap popping and puppy petting is being introduced at one Midland university to help them relax during exam time.

Free cups of tea, dedicated quiet revision areas, longer opening hours at the university bar and board game sessions are also on the cards as part of a stress reduction scheme.

Special bubble wrap stations will be set up around the grounds of Leicester University, with metres of the packaging on offer for passing students to pop away their exam woes.

The Students' Union said the "instant gratification" of popping the plastic wrapping meant it was better stress relief than yoga or meditation.

Trainee guide dogs are also to be brought on campus, allowing students the chance to pet puppies for £1 a go.

It comes after a mobile petting zoo was set up at the university during the January exam period.

Education officer and president-elect of the SU, Michael Rubin, said it was part of a drive to reduce potential mental health issues.
