Dramatic pictures as car ploughs into Indian restaurant

This is the scene at Indian restaurant The Passage to India in Anstey, Leicester today after a car ploughed into the building around midnight last night.

The last customers had left about an hour before but one waiter was hit on the leg by flying debris.

The front half of the car was right inside the restaurant, where it collided with the brick chimney breast.

Mr Islam believes four people were inside the car and that none of them had serious injuries.

He called the emergency services himself.

He hopes to be back up and running tomorrow, but is expecting council building experts to visit to assess the damage.
