Jake Bugg speaks out about American Idol and Brit Awards

Nottingham musician Jake Bugg has criticised the Brit Awards for being "really boring" and questioned the decision to put David Bowie in the same category as other artists for the Best Male category.

He said: "I don't mind losing out to David Bowie but how can you have a category with him in it and four people that have made one or two albums?"

The 20-year-old missed out to David Bowie, 67, at the award ceremony last month. He was also nominated in the Best Breakthrough Act category. Talking behind the scenes at the 6 Music Festival on Saturday, he described talent shows like American Idol "dream smashers" - despite appearing on the show earlier this year.
