The highly anticipated rematch between Nottingham's Carl Froch and George Groves will go ahead.

The showdown fight has been scheduled for May 31 and is expected to be at a football stadium.

When the pair met in November their world title fight was controversially stopped by the referee in the ninth round.

At that point, Froch, the current IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion, was down on points. The stoppage was greeted with boos from the crowd.

'The Cobra', as Carl is known in the boxing world, defended the referee's decision, saying it was "right" to stop the fight.

George Groves has pushed for a rematch ever since their first encounter.

The confirmation ends weeks of speculation about a rematch.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Carl Froch said it is the fight "everybody is talking about" and that he is "excited" for it.
