Birmingham St Mary's Hospice will be launching its 35th Anniversary year with it's largest ever corporate donation of more than £125k raised from the Phoenix Group.

Members of the Wythall-based group selected the hospice by way of a staff vote, with three out of four staff members choosing St Mary's as their 2013 Charity of the Year.

Staff then spent the following year raising the money with a number of activities, including:

  • Corporate car wash

  • On-site tennis tournament

  • Summer fete

  • Fireworks night

Additionally, staff hosted their own version of 'Hell's Kitchen', as well as signing up for external events such as the Great Birmingham Run and the London-to-Paris bike ride.

The hospice opened it's door in 1979, providing free-of-charge care for tens of thousands of terminally ill people across Birmingham and Sandwell. St Mary's needs £7.4 Million annually to fund the care they provide.
