ITV News Central advice for New Year's day travel across the Midlands

Train and coach operators across the Midlands have advised passengers to check before they travel today, with limited services running for New Year's day, here's our guide to help you plan ahead.

Chiltern Railways

A Sunday service with minor changes will take place today on the Birmingham to London line.

Virgin Trains

Services will start later than normal, with reduced services all day affecting the West Midlands, Manchester, Chester and North Wales trains.

Trains to and from Edinburgh are diverted and will depart earlier and arrive later than normal.

Off-Peak travel at any time of the day from the afternoon of Tuesday 24 December until Wednesday 1 January inclusive.

London Midland

Sunday timetables will operate on most routes today, with an additional 2-hourly Birmingham-Shrewsbury service.

Revised times will apply on the Euston line due to engineering works, including rail replacement buses between Rugby and Northampton.

There will be no service between Bedford and Bletchley.

East Midlands Trains

The first service arriving in London departs Derby at 06:04 and arrives into London St Pancras at 08:00.

First service departing London is the 08:56, London St Pancras to Sheffield.

East Coast

East Coast will be operating a revised timetable between Monday 23 December 2013 and Thursday 2 January 2014.

An amended timetable will operate with services to and from Leeds reduced to an hourly pattern.

Cross Country

There will be a late start-up of service between Birmingham to Leicester and Stansted Airport.

Trains will operate between Nuneaton and Stansted Airport.

Rail replacement road transport will operate between Birmingham New Street, Coleshill Parkway and Nuneaton.
