X-Factor winner receives hero's welcome in Leicester

Sam Bailey, Leicester's X-Factor winner, received a hero's welcome last night as she sang at half-time in the match between Leicester City and Manchester City.

The crowd chanted "Sam Bailey, she's one of our own" as the former prison officer belted out her new single, a cover of Demi Lovato's Skyscraper.

She also performed a version of Whitney Houston's How Will I Know, at the King Power Stadium.

Alas, her appearance did not bring her team luck as Leicester were knocked out of the Capital One Cup with a 1-3 defeat in the quarter-final.

Sam beat teenager Nicholas McDonald on Sunday in the final of the ITV competition at London's Wembley Arena.

She's now hoping Skyscraper will make it to number one in time for Christmas and will support Beyonce on the UK leg of her Mrs Carter world tour in February.
