Derby-based Rolls-Royce wins $5billion engine order

Rolls-Royce has won a $5billion order from Etihad Airways to make their Trent XWB engines for 50 new aircraft.

The Derby-based firm makes the engines, noted as the world’s most efficient flying engine. They are built specifically for the Airbus A350 XWB, which came into service in June this year.

President of Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, Tony Wood, is looking forward to providing more engines to airlines, with more than 16,000 currently on order from the company.
