What is type 2 diabetes?

  • More common than type 1 diabetes

  • It occurs when the body fails to produce enough insulin

  • Insulin controls blood sugar levels

  • Insulin moves glucose from blood into cells and it is converted into energy

What are the symptoms?

  • Thirsty feeling

  • Loss of weight

  • Tiredness

  • Frequent urination, particularly during the night

How can you prevent it?

  • A healthy diet

  • Regular exercise

  • Moderation with alcohol intake

  • No smoking
