Mostly sunny tomorrow, hazy sun. Feeling warm. Fine week ahead.

Acorns... autumn approaching? Credit: Graham Rainbow

Heavy rain skirted our region last night, but we missed the worst of it. Autumn may be approaching, but we have a fine Bank Holiday Monday to enjoy first!

The SE'ern corner of ITV Central was affected with one or two downpours:

Wittering 12.6 mm Woburn 13.2 mm Monks wood 25.8 mm

Since the monthly average is 66.9mm, there is nothing significant there.

However, if you are heading out of the region over the weekend, it was very wet in Essex last night with more than a month's rain falling in 24 hours in Shoeburyness.

The monthly average for the area is 50.6mm, and the exact total which fell during the period is 58.2mm, most of that in just one hour during the evening. Some places may have been wetter, but this is highest _official _total in the country.

For the rest of today through the Central region, it's a case of sunshine and showers, bright spells between the showers. Winds light to moderate and generally northerly, temperatures just above average at 22-23c 73f.

Any showers fade this evening, but cloud spills across from the North Sea overnight. Staying dry, temperatures a degree or so up on the average, around 13-14c.

Similar for tomorrow, cloudy start, but with quite alot of hazy sun developing. Feeling warm at 23-24c, a good 3-4 degrees above average and feeling very warm.
