More snow showers to come
After a sunny start for many of us it is turning cloudier this afternoon with occasional wintry showers. Temperatures will reach 4c but feel more like 0c in the bitterly cold northerly wind.
Tonight snow showers will blow in from the North Sea giving a slight dusting across parts of the East Midlands. Shropshire and Staffordshire are likely to see occasional snow showers too blowing in from the Cheshire Gap. The main issue tonight will be ice as temperatures drop below freezing. A Yellow 'Be Aware' Alert has been issued by the Met Office for Lincolnshire where the snow and ice is expected to be most severe.
Ice will still be an issue first thing tomorrow with snow showers possible through the morning too. There will be some sunshine on offer first thing though. Through tomorrow afternoon the snow showers will become more widespread. Any snow will quickly melt though with the sunshine inbetween the showers. Expect highs tomorrow of 5c although it will feel colder than that in the wind.
Tomorrow night will be frosty and icy but we should all enjoy some good spells of sunshine on Thursday, arguably the best day of the week. The snow showers should be confined to Lincolnshire.
The weather breaks down from Friday onwards turning very unsettled from the west. Expect the cloud to build through the morning on Friday and rain to spread to all parts through the day. It will remain cloudy and wet throughout the weekend.
