A man has been left needing stitches after intervening in a snowball fight.

It happened yesterday (Monday 21 January) in Bromsgrove; the man was concerned that snowballs were going astray and could end up injuring toddlers and elderly people passing by.

He challenged the group and one of the youngsters punched him several times and his ear cartilage was damaged. He had to have emergency medical treatment at a specialist facial clinic and may suffer hearing loss and permanent scarring.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at around 15:30, near Iceland in Mill Lane.
