Talks are underway to try to avert industrial action on Cross Country Trains this Friday.

The company connects the Midlands with cities as far away as Penzance and Aberdeen and many towns and cities in between.

The RMT Union has called the strike for Friday when many people have plans to travel home for Christmas.

The Union claims its staff have been treated unfairly over rosters and training.

Train managers, senior conductors and on-board catering staff are set to be involved.

Cross Country told ITV Central they are hopeful the talks today will resolve the issues raised.

If not, they will announce alternative plans for Friday timetables later today.

At the moment, they are telling passengers not to change their arrangements.
