Leukaemia sufferer takes stem cell campaign on the road
An ex-police officer who struggled to find a stem cell donor match is campaigning to get more Asians to register.
Rik Basra, a patient suffering from Leukaemia, had to find a bone marrow donor in Germany, after failing to find a match in the UK.
Rik and wife Kas will hold the first of a series of public events to recruit potentially life-saving blood stem cell donors to the national register, maintained by the Anthony Nolan charity.
The first two recruitment events will take place at Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre on Sunday 4th November and Tuesday November 13th between 5:30-9pm.
Rik told ITV Central how helpless he felt when in urgent need of a donor.
